SSI 2020 postponed to automn 2021, in Quebec City

Faced with the current Covid-19 pandemic and the health concerns caused by it, Sport'Aide and Safe Sport International have decided that we had no option but to postpone the upcoming edition of the Safe Sport International (SSI 2020) conference scheduled for Quebec City to automn 2021.

We realize that everyone will be very disappointed by the postponement of this extremely important event which we have all done so much preparation for. Any trip in the current context increases the risk of exposure for you and your community to the virus. Therefore it was our civic responsibility to make this difficult choice.
The conference, "Teaming up to Eliminate Violence in Sports", will now be held in Quebec in automn 2021 and, as soon as the dates are confirmed, we will inform you.

Regarding the practicalities of this postponement, Sport'Aide will either reimburse your registration fees or you can choose to retain your registration for next year’s re-scheduled event at no additional cost. Please note that the reimbursement takes between 5 and 10 working days to appear on your credit card statement. For any travel booked, many airlines offer waivers of cancellation fees or credits due to travel issues and quarantines in effect. If you have booked travel to attend SSI 2020, please check the terms and conditions with your travel provider directly and your insurer. If you have reserved a room at the Delta hotel, please contact them directly to cancel your hotel reservation.

We believe that you understand the situation we are facing and hope that you support our decision. Sport'Aide and Safe Sport International would like to reiterate that we are extremely sorry for any inconvenience caused and very much hope to welcome you next year in Quebec!

In the meantime, Safe Sport International will be exploring options to continue work on our three priority areas: research, education and training and athlete/youth voice, using remote/virtual technology. Unless you tell us otherwise, we will continue to provide you with updates and opportunities to engage with this crucial work to safeguard children and adults in sport.  Finally, Safe Sport International had intended to launch its new global research network for safe sport at the conference. We will now plan to have a virtual launch on Friday, April 17, together with an invitation to join the network. We will keep you informed of the details in due course.
